In the culturally rich and diverse backdrop of Rourkela, my hometown in Eastern India, I've always been immersed in the vibrant arts scene. This environment nurtured my early fascination with arts, particularly in the realms of fashion, design, and visual arts. My journey through diverse education systems and extensive professional experience in the industry has enriched my understanding of the arts as a viable career path.
Recently, I had the opportunity to share these insights with an eager group of young girl students at St Joseph's Convent School, who are on the cusp of exploring their artistic aspirations. The session was more than just a talk; it was a bridge connecting these young minds to the vast possibilities that the world of art offers.
The event commenced with my narrative, sharing the contours of my career in the arts, the challenges encountered, and how each hurdle accelerated my professional growth. I delved into the myriad career opportunities available in the creative sector, aiming to illuminate paths the students might not have considered. Following my talk, the floor was opened for a Q/A session, lasting an hour and a half. The maturity and depth of the students' questions were remarkable, reflecting their earnestness in understanding the practicalities of an art career. This interaction wasn't just an exchange of queries and responses; it was a session brimming with curiosity, learning, and mutual respect.
My approach was to establish a connection with these young aspirants at a personal level. Utilizing my communication and interpersonal skills, I fostered a space where concerns and dreams were shared freely, without fear of judgment. The transparency and maturity of our discussion were palpable, with the students actively engaging and absorbing the guidance offered.
This session underscored my commitment to educating and inspiring the next generation of artists. It was a reaffirmation of my belief in the transformative power of art education, especially for young individuals seeking direction and motivation to pursue their creative dreams. Here are a few snapshots from the interactive session and the love showered by these young girls after the completion. This is a special memory for me as it gives me immense pleasure of giving back to the youngster of the town which has shaped the way that I have grown both personally and professionally.
